I'm interested in this as I installed the EVO 840 in my mid-2012 Macbook Pro. I've been experiencing a few issues lately where it randomly reboots, and maybe this helps?

I'd be interested if anyone has installed it.

Does this interfere with software raid? I have 2 840 Pros in software raid 0 that are still running the original firmware, so should probably be updated soon.

- The discussed firmware update is only for the 840 EVO. The Pro was last updated in March '14.

This firmware update does not (yet) work on the mSATA version of an 840 EVO SSD... the updater scans for the SSD and cannot find one to which the update applies. Oh well, I hadn't anything else planned.:(

updated my 1TB 840 EVO by burning a disk. update went smooth and took less than 5 minutes. It didn't run the "performance restoration" like the previous FW update. All is well. Safari seems snappier.

Can this one be used with a Samsung drive that's connected via USB or Thunderbolt or does it only work on drives connected to SATA like the last updater did?

Maybe not any...appears the EVO updater download is no longer available through the Samsung site.

Had some free time today so I decided to update my firmware. First made a CCC backup of my 840 EVO boot drive, then burned the ISO image to CD using my external BR/DVD/CD burner, booted to the CD, ran the updater (sure is strange to see a DOS screen on my Mini). Update process took maybe 5 minutes. Restarted, checked System Report to verify I was indeed at the latest firmware version, and everything is running fine.
