Samsung SE-506CB ?

Does anyone have the above drive??

Im considering on getting one to replace my Apple Superdrive.
Im aware the Apple Superdrive writes at 8x DVD, and the Samsung version at 6x, but the added benefit of writing to BluRay discs outweighs the slightly slower DVD writing speeds!

I do not want to use this to watch or burn movies etc. It will only be used to burn data, such as home movies and pics of the family etc, to BluRay discs for backup/archives etc. Bearing this in mind, do I need any additional software to burn basic data discs, or can this be done the same as burning a DVD??

I have a Samsung 506 connected to a late-2012 Mini, and it burns CDs and DVDs just fine, no problems at all (I use both OS 10.8.5 and 10.10.2).

I've used Toast and "Simply Burns" as my burning apps.

Haven't tried to do any BluRay discs, yet.
