Just RMA'd a 256GB Crucial M4 for a full refund so in the market for another SSD.

I have a Macbook Pro 17 2.3GHz (early 2011, week 25, June).

Will the Samsung SSD 470 256MB be any good?......Reliable? fast? without the problems that the SATA III drives tend to have in the Macbook Pros?

Cheers

From posts by users here, that seems to be one of the more compatible SSDs out there right now. Unless you are frequently moving around a lot of very large data files you will not notice a speed difference.

Just switched from a Vertex 3 120GB for stability and reliability reasons, it's awesome. Don't notice a speed difference and in some cases like boot and shut down, it's faster. Very stable and capable SSD even for SATA II.

Granted I have a 64GB since I have a 1TB in my OptiBay, but either way I'd get the 470. You won't notice any difference in speed, might even be faster in some cases depending on previous stability of your Crucial M4.

I wouldn't get the 256MB :D

I put the 256GB in last week and this computer flies now.

My Late 08 MBP is no longer limited by a slow HDD!
