I have had my Samsung Story hard drive for about one year now, and it recently had some problems. If I turned my computer off, and then turned it back on again the hard drive would not turn on. I would have to disconnect the power cable for about 15 mins and then plug it back in to get it working.

Last week the same thing happened, but now I can not get the hard drive to turn on at all. I still have got the warranty on it, so I can return it back to Samsung for a replacement. But if I do this, Samsung say the data on the drive will not be kept on it. I have got around 1.5tb of data on the hard drive, is there any way I can recover the data from the hard drive?

And is it likely to be the hard drive thats the problem, or the power supply? Would simply buying a new enclosure work?
