Samsung T240HD Sleep issue

I have a 2006 mac pro, 2 x dual core 2.66 GHz processors with a 7300gt and for some reason when I sleep the monitors the back light on my 24" turns on and off every couple of seconds. The screen stays black, but the backlight turns on, then off, then on, repeatedly. I do not have this problem with my secondary monitor, which is a 17" hp vs17e that I got with an old desktop. It also happens if I sleep the computer itself. Whats the deal?
