I do audio production and I need a small fast external USB C SSD and all my producer friends recommend Samsung T series. I am looking at the T5 series which is USB 3.1 and the T7 which is USB 3.2 and has faster transfer speeds (If supported). I work back and forth between my M1 Mac mini, and my 2019 Macbook and will be moving the drive between the two. Do either of my macs support USB 3.1? What about 3.2?

t7 should be fine with both of them.
I was looking at some other posts after i posted, and some people say T7 slower on M1 than advertised and slower than on Intel? Is this true? I am looking into also TB3 enclosure ($80-$140) and NVME 1 TB Sabrent rocket 1500mbs ($120) which would end up being faster, 1500mbs vs 700-900, but then costing considerably more than the T7.. wonder if its worth it for my use case. I would not be transfering often at all to the drive. Just reading audio samples from it frequently
