Looks more like the N95 to be honest. Pity the OP couldn't actually provide more info, or at least add an iPhone angle. ;)

Tocco (Italian for Touch, which kinda explains that name a bit more (As opposed to the N96 or Viewty)...
3G HSDPA, 5.0MPixel, 2.8 inch screen with haptics.

"Memory can be expanded up to 8GB using a microSD card." (Might be a limitation on the phone, or just microSD cards (and that'd cost a bomb presumably - a 2GB is £15-20 odd, but cost isn't linear to GB).

FM radio with RDS, stereo Bluetooth, organiser, web browser - 5 megapixel camera with autofocus, face detection and video stabilisation.
Running on.... ?

"Face Detection automatically adjusts settings when you are taking photos of people; to ensure portraits turn out great
-Smile Shot mode is able to identify when subject is smiling and automatically takes a picture
-Smile Shot makes its worldwide debut on a mobile phone with the F480"

Sounds like a touchscreen cam that has a decent camera - bit like a Sony-Ericsson K800i or one of the SureShot style ones. I'd imagine that Sony will have a decent rival. Interesting to see that the software is coming on board the phones. Apple isn't really involved in camera software per se, and I wouldn't imagine that Apple would allow an app to run with the cam app, to allow such software running on an iPhone (e.g. smile recognition/ other stuff on an iPhone).

http://samsungtocco.com/ for a decent yet thoroughly biased viewpoint, with pictures.

Cnet gave it 8/10.

We like: Good touchscreen interface; cool widgets feature; 3G download speeds; good camera
We don't like: No full onscreen keyboard; poor Web browser; interface can feel sluggish
Also known as: Samsung Tocco F480; Samsung SGH-F480
CNET.co.uk judgement: The Tocco is a stylish handset with a wealth of features, including a 5-megapixel camera and HSDPA support. It's not quite an iPhone killer, but it's still one of the best touchscreen phones around

Pass.

No AppStore, no iTunes syncing, no Mac support probably, no MobileMe syncing.

I have similar concerns. I use mac and usually phones do not offer support for macs like they do for windows. ( I mean the software which comes with the phone )

Only thing on the market which works with macs is iPhone. If its camera did not suck I wouldn' t stop for a second to buy it.

Does Samsung Tocco synchronise with Iphotos

Is there some software available that allows the Samsung F480 to synchronise with Mac's iphoto using the USB link? Many thanks, Balti

Slightly OT: I don't know where you get your MicroSD cards from but you need to change supplier! You can get an 8GB MicroSD for under £20.00 and a 2GB one for under £4.00 (just have a look on Amazon, who aren't even the cheapest supplier)

The iPhone didn't have half of that when it came out. Did it hold people back from getting it?

True, but it seems the original iPhone had a lot more going for it than this phone. Even if they are equal in features, the iPhone is most likely better and more efficient at each (excluding the camera).

I have one of these. It's not bad, texting's easy and the interface runs fine, but it's not even in the same league as the iPhone.

Had a go on my mate's Tocco the other day, and it is a very nice phone. Wouldn't swap my iPhone for it, but I'd happily own it if the iPhone wasn't around!

samsung tocco

I would quite like to get one of these.
does anyone know if it can play songs from itunes?
:apple:rock!!!:apple:
