I'm not Korean, but you can take about the middle of the video. They have someone opening and closing the Samsung tri fold. They are saying it will be released in South Korea and UAE first around February 2026?

I'm interested in getting the iFold, but it looks like it can't compare with Samsung or Huawei's one. Unfortunately, most of us in the United States using Apple can't get out of the Apple ecosystem (and they know it too, and won't allow international companies to come in and compete).

Ugh.

Point 1. I do not want a fold. I do not have a desire for one, never have and probably never will. My lifestyle in the past and in the present allows me the freedom to NOT have a foldable and my lifestyle in the future will probably continue to allow me to NOT have a foldable.

I might consider a foldable if someone is willing to PAY ME to have one, but certainly not in exclusion to my real phone.

Point 2. No one is 'stuck' in the ecosystem. They just CHOOSE to be there. Whether that choice was made years ago or recently, it was a choice. Changing your mind can be costly and difficult and you may CHOOSE to not change your mind. But that is still a choice.

I choose to use third party services. A choice I made years ago. Because Apple allows you to choose the services you want to use (or not use) on their devices.

Tri-fold feels so... 2024.

I don't think the right phrasing is that Apple "can't" do it, it's more accurate to say that they're not currently doing it. Whether this even stays a desirable form factor for years to come is still unknown.

How can you say it can't compare with the phone in the video? We still don't even know what Apple's folding phone is going to look like...

Hehe I think the way it folds up is insane. Especially when they call these things "Galaxy Z Fold" right? It should fold like a Z! But the way it folds is probably easier on the inner screen.

Honestly I don’t like ANY fold phones and if Apple will only make the folds and not the pro max once they are foolish to release it then they will lose a customer because I’m not doing it lol I’ve worked at a company that sold a bunch of the Z folds and they break SO easily just from closing the phone. I don’t want to have to baby my phone every single time I use it. Plus you can see the grease and the screen isn’t glass. So yeah overall a big hell no for me

This is a dead product. A dual fold is complex enough but who really wants to carry this around all day on the off chance they need such a large display. It's heavy, complicated with multiple points of faliure, battery inefficient, the list goes on. At this point just carry two devices, maybe one with a keyboard.

I get why people want a foldable big display, but I don't think this is the solution. I think a scrollable version would be much better.

Samsung and Huawei out here making tri-fold smartphones when Android can’t even post high quality photos or videos on any social media app.😭😭😭

There are practical limitations with rollables including structural rigidity and battery life. What's behind the rollable display? Nothing, which means unwanted flexibility, poor battery life, and no additional cameras.

Meanwhile, my friend's galaxy flip phone has started developing screen issues, where the phone now powers off when she tries to close it.

The larger narrative is that while Samsung releases devices with fairly fragile displays, Apple continues to double down on the longevity of their products. iPhones have excellent build quality and are easily supported with software updates for 5-6 years, compared to the apparent 2-3 year shelf-life of folding phones.

meanwhile Apple will throttle your device and hide that fact.....until caught red handed. Now thats one way to help with longgevity. Meanwhile we still can't get a Mac notebook with a touchscreen.
I agree with you that Apple makes great products.....but not defect free by a long shot. Just take a little trip to the forums here on MR...especially after a new product release.
I have had every iPhone to the current 17PM. I have also had every Galaxy Ultra phones and the build quality and performance between the 2 line ups is about identical.

Having owned the Z Fold 7 since launch I have no interest in another foldable until 1) they are able to use proper glass on the inner display just like outer display, 2) the inner display selfie camera becomes invisible again, 3) larger battery, 4) proper flagship level cameras, and 5) wider aspect ratio on the inner display.

There's no way any company will satisfy all of these criteria in 2026. Hopefully I'm wrong!

Thankfully those are all the least of my cares with the exception of #4 but I do get amazing shots with the main camera. If they could give me better zoom capabilities, that would be amazing.

This mirrors my experience, having upgraded to the latest flagship iPhone each year since 2007, while also carrying the latest flagship Android phones for work.

Each has their pros and cons, it’s been interesting and educational. Those who bash Android have no clue what they’re missing.

One of the great surprises I’ve experienced is how much I’m enjoying my Z Fold7.

As a long term smartphone enthusiast, initially I had zero interest. Especially since I am completely satisfied with my Galaxy S25 Ultra.

Then a friend showed me his Z Fold7 which was a real eye opener. So I bought one the week they were launched and it’s been a great experience.

Now that I’m sold on folding phones, I’m eager to see what Apple creates.

I feel like maybe Apple is holding back something big. Samsung already pulled off the tri-fold, so if Apple just copies that, it wouldn’t feel very exciting — and honestly, it wouldn’t be very “Apple-like.” Maybe they’re working on something beyond that, something that actually brings a real surprise.

Do you actually thing Apple would only release a foldable phone and get rid of the rest of the IPhone line? Wow.

I'm not interested as well and enjoy my Fold 7 so much to keep me going till Fold 8 if worth the upgrade or wait till Fold 9.
Yeah it's really funny how in 4 months, the things that really bugged me about this phone no longer bug me. Sure I'd like it better zoom lens on the camera or a bigger battery. And yes, if those things are upgraded on the Fold 8, I will upgrade. But they are no longer issues that on a daily basis make me regret this choice. The foldable life is pretty awesome and I don't know that I could go back to a slab phone at this point.

It gets you spoiled for sure and always something a phone can do better
