Samsung is hosting a new "Black Friday in July" sale, which includes big discounts on multiple product lines sitewide. The popular ViewFinity S9 5K Smart Monitor and new Smart Monitor M80D are both discounted during this sale, but you'll also find sales on storage, audio, TVs, smartphones, and home appliances.

The Smart Monitor M80D was announced at CES in January and launched in early June. The display retains key features of the previous model, like USB-C charging connectivity, AirPlay 2 support, an integrated webcam, and several smart TV features that enable it to be used when not connected to a PC. It's on sale today for $499.99, which is a new all-time low price and beats the previous deal from earlier in the month by about $50.

In terms of new features, the M80D includes a Multi Control feature that allows images and text to be moved between the display and a Galaxy Book, Tablet, or Phone. You can also pair Galaxy Buds to the monitor for a spatial audio experience with head tracking, as well as guided workouts when paired with a Galaxy Watch.

You can also get the 27-inch ViewFinity S9 5K Smart Monitor for $899.99, down from $1,599.99. At $700 off this is an all-time low price on the 2023 display, which has a matte display, modular 4K SlimFit camera, and support for Thunderbolt 4.

We've rounded up a few more discounts below on TVs, monitors, and Galaxy products, but remember that this sale is sitewide and you can save on many more devices, including household appliances and more.

Woah the Odyssey G9 49-inch non-Neo still exists? It's 3 generations behind, I wouldn't touch this...

Some of their monitors would be great - Samsung Display makes good QD-OLED panels, but every other companies implementation of them are better than Samsungs. I don't want a "Smart" monitor, hell I don't even want a smart TV! Never mind putting that junk into my monitor.

The QD-OLED version of their own display panel has all the smart nonsense added but doesn't have USB-C to connect and charge a MacBook and doesn't have a KVM whilst all their competitors with the same panel do!

Also that ViewFinity has a nice panel, but I don't want smart stuff, I don't want a remove and I certainly don't want that stupid camera stuck to the top!

I bought the G8 OLED ultra wide 34” for pennies new! Sure, it’s got the remote (which in itself is damn nice to have when turning on/off/going through settings etc.) and the smart tv stuff. But.. You don’t have to use the smart stuff.. the monitor is amazing and it has USB-C with 65W charging and video for easy connecting with my MacBook. Love it. Say what you want about Samsung. But they make great panels (and often can be bought insanely cheap).

Personally, I'm holding out for the "Cyber Monday in August" sale.

Related: Marketing departments have never been lazier.

Everyone screams about the text rendering, but I assume you have no issues?

I'd really like to see one in person.

Looking at a high end LED vs OLED, you can't unsee the contrast difference. It's like the LED has a haze layer.

I'd pay a lot for a for an OLED productivity monitor.

Well. MacOS isn’t the best at 3440x1440 resolutions, not as good as Windows is. And even on Windows there ARE some slight slight issues with text on these QD-Oleds. But it looks great in Windows after some setting up. And if you download BetterDisplay on your Mac you’ll unlock a ton of display settings and custom resolutions that’ll fix A LOT. There’s a great Reddit post that touches on this subject (and also recommends a great custom resolution for 3440x1440 displays). With the settings i found in that Reddit thread it looks great!

Can’t seem to find it at the moment (gotta sleep, it’s 1:30 am here), but google around and you’ll find it 😁

Edit: I must also mention that the design is fantastic, and the foot is the best on any monitor I’ve had. Metal and flat. The mood lighting on the back is great as well. I have mine set up with a white light on the wall behind.

Fair point about Samsung's panels being great, even if their implementation isn't always the best. And yeah, who needs all that smart stuff in a monitor, right? Glad you found a good deal on the G8 OLED ultra wide, sounds like it's working out well for you!
Yeah I love it! It had issues for a while after release. Sadly many reviews reflect that initial release window. It’s been fixed after updates (they even released an update yesterday, almost two years after release!).

It works exactly as advertised now (and has for a while). No issues with wake on sleep etc. it’s amazing when gaming in HDR in Windows, and amazing when I use my MacBook on it (with BetterDisplay set up correctly).

The 27" Viewfinity S9 is $897 at Amazon right now, but a year ago it was $899 plus a $100 Amazon credit.

(Also note that using Amazon's Prime VISA card returns a 5% Amazon credit on any Amazon purchases, so the effective cost for this monitor a year ago would have been $754.)

I think I have that same panel in my current Alienware monitor. It is good - though i'm not into the ultrawide aspect. I'm looking to get one of the newer 4k QD-OLED panels in a 16:9, 32" instead currently. I'd rather 27" and have the increased PPI but alas, it's not available.
