Samsung is hosting a new Discover Samsung sale to celebrate the impending fall season. The popular Smart Monitor M80D is being discounted during this sale, but you'll also find sales on storage, audio, TVs, smartphones, and wearable tech.

Samsung has its new 32-inch Smart Monitor M80D on sale today for $499.99, down from $699.99, which is a second-best price on the monitor. The display retains key features of the previous model, like USB-C charging connectivity, AirPlay 2 support, an integrated webcam, and several smart TV features that enable it to be used when not connected to a PC.

In terms of new features, the M80D includes a Multi Control feature that allows images and text to be moved between the display and a Galaxy Book, Tablet, or Phone. You can also pair Galaxy Buds to the monitor for a spatial audio experience with head tracking, as well as guided workouts when paired with a Galaxy Watch.

This product still makes no sense to me. Why does a monitor need "smart" TV features if it's connected to a computer?

I just snagged an ‘Open Box - Excellent’ M80C for $350. Hoping it is indeed as described. Wish they discounted the S9 to around $600

This article doesn't tell you the pixel dimensions, which are 3840 x 2160 (4K), giving 138 ppi.

You could maybe scale it to c. 1.2x to get things appearing at a good size, if your GPU is up to it.

If you get this be prepared to see some of the worst colors you’ve ever seen

I gave VA panels a chance and regretted it immediately

Really sucks that we can't buy an old iMac 27" to use as a monitor. There are some used ones out there for $400-$600 that would make an amazing 5K display for my MBP.

Just as an update,

I've been on the market for a 5k display and ended up "settling" for an iMac 27" 2017 16GB 512GB SSD instead of just hooking up my MacBook Pro M3 Pro to a monitor. I'll keep using my MBP for more demanding tasks and use the iMac for basic day to day work stuff (mostly boring admin) and my home use (YouTube, light vid editing, overall web browsing, etc).

Paid $500 for it, and it is a much better overall deal compared to any 5k monitor around. Samsung and Dell 5k monitors are going for decently more. It is in fantastic condition too. No complaints at all about purchasing an iMac 2017 in 2024.

When it stops supporting any form of updates, I'll try to convert it into a Mac Mini monitor as shown here 🫣
