Forgive me if this has been asked and answered before, I searched and did not see anything.

Are all the iMacs that are shipping from origin point San Jose, CA turning out to be marked as "Assembled in USA"?

I just ordered a BTO i7 27-incher and it is shipped from San Jose, CA. So I guess yes and maybe.

My BTO said it was shipped from San Jose, and said it was assembled in the USA.

I wonder if that is total assembly, or just taking the units from China, opening them up and putting in the BTO parts?

So my iMac arrived this morning. Sure enough, she was "assembled" in America:

No and no.

iMac units are assembled in Shanghai and shipped from Shanghai.

things shipping from within us are assembled in USA. this is different from Made in Usa which would require a significant amount of the internal parts and associated manufacturing costs were incurred in the US. since a lot of the parts are foreign sourced, they get an assembled in usa qualifier.

Mine shipped from San jose and has the same 'assembled in usa' marking.

If memory serves, the Apple address label on my shipping box was something called a "drop ship" with the origin being "Elk Grove, CA."

FedEx tracking originated in Shanghai and I followed from there, through to Memphis, Mather, and my door.
