I have been eyeing these for a while and now I have a 2021 14 MBP and the prices seem good I have started looking again.

Can anyone guide on which models best fit the speeds restricted by the USB on the MBP. I don't mind paying extra for speed, but if it is overkill and I wont reach top speeds anyway then its probably best saved. Plus I don't at the moment do anything using huge files like video editing that will be running off the drive. Just probably mainly storage/backup and maybe working off it for larger illustration/photo files.

Thanks!

Either the Sandisk Extreme (which looks to be a USB3.1 gen2 drive) or a Samsung t7 (which IS a USB3.1 gen2 drive) should give read speeds up around 830MBps (or higher) when used with the USBc port and a good cable.

If you want "faster", you'd need thunderbolt4 or USB4.
But that's more expensive (USB4 devices are still few and far between).

Thanks. I don't really need fast, I dont want to lose out heh... but also not pay for what Im not going to use. £175 for 2TB here looks good, https://www.amazon.co.uk/SanDisk-Ex...098-b213-f0ae90d3e250&pd_rd_i=B08HN37XC1&th=1 - not much of a saving on this slower one https://www.amazon.co.uk/SanDisk-Ex...098-b213-f0ae90d3e250&pd_rd_i=B08HN37XC1&th=1 but then its Gen2 so is this any better.
