Sandisk Plus SSD in a late 2008 MBP?

I'm replacing the hard drive in my late 2008 MBP with an SSD.

I can pick up a 240GB Sandisk Plus tomorrow in a black Friday sale for almost half the price of a Samsung Evo 850.

However I have read about some problems people had with older Sandisk SSDs in 2008/09 MBPs for which Sandisk issued a firmware update - although all those threads were from around 2012.

Might I expect similar problems with a new Sandisk Plus drive? or would the firmware on a new Sandisk Plus drive be OK with a 2008 MBP?

Should I just shell out the extra for the Evo 850 to be safe?

I do not know where you are making your purchase, but on Amazon US the Samsung 250 Gb ($78) is $19 more than the 240 Gb Sandisk Plus ($59), the Samsung is not double the price of the Sandisk. I would go for the Samsung, it is newer technology and 10 Gb more capacity.

It really won't make much of a difference either way on a a 2008 MBP.

Thanks for your responses and apologies for the delay replying - realised I had an old Vertex 2 lying around so decided to use that instead.
