Hello,
I have been doing a lot of research on the problems that I have been experiencing. I will try to explain them to the best of my ability.
I recently installed a 120 GB Sandisk Extreme SSD in my MAIN BAY. I couldn't say no to the $70 price tag
Current setup: is a 15" Macbook Pro 2.0 GHz early 2011 model.
This is what my current MacBook Pro specs show: (TRIM IS ENABLED)
Vendor: Intel
Product: 6 Series Chipset
Link Speed: 6 Gigabit
Negotiated Link Speed: 6 Gigabit
Description: AHCI Version 1.30 Supported
I have tested the write and read speeds with two programs:
[Black Magic and Nova]
Problem 1: Low write speeds. Uncompressed and Compressed.
Current Readings: Black Magic 125-150 write / 360 read and Nova 230 ish write.
Problem 2: (The Black Magic testing now seems to act differently. The write needle is very bouncy. I could almost say its glitchy. It will bounce to 140 write and quickly drop to 120-125 write.)
When I first installed the SSD, the readings were pretty stable 150 write / 430 read and didn't drop dramatically. From what I am reading, the SSD will slow down once it fills up for the first time. Also, Black magic uses compressed testing which will cause my SSD to show slower write speeds.
Questions for you: I don't feel as if my speeds are that amazing. Actually I can't tell much of a difference (Previous setup was stock 5400 rpm HDD). Should I be seeing higher write speeds? Is there something that is bottlenecking? Does the Sandisk Extreme SSD just suck? Should I switch out to another SSD? How can I get 300-400 write speed? You get the drift.
