Hi all, just like it says on the tin. I had bought this flash drive before I bought my laptop and I can't make it fit. It looks like the connector is ever so slightly longer than the USB-C charger cable, which fits fine and does the reassuring click I expect it to do. I have managed to briefly make it work in one of the ports, which must have been slightly deeper than the others, but no luck anymore. Anybody had a similar experience?

Thanks!

wow that is quite a difference... seems like a manufacturing defect to me. Are you able to return the device?

Probably not, but I am not concerned. I’d be

Not overly concerned about the drive, though I hope I haven’t damaged the laptop ports in the process (seems unlikely). I am going to order a different drive and see what happens. But I understand these used to work fine on previous generations, so I am wondering if ports on new MBPs are shallower.

It should work fine. I use one with my 16" with no issue, and some of the metal port on it remains exposed when plugged into the computer. It's no different when used with a 2017 or 2018 MBP either.

Thanks. I am wondering if I am not pushing hard enough, but honestly I am a bit afraid to try.

Just by way of an update, I have since tried a number of other USB-C devices and they all fit perfectly. It’s really down to this particular pen drive, so watch out. To be sure, it works great with an adapter, but that kind of defies the purpose.

Don't force anything.
See if it will insert. Go "gently" up to that point at which it will "go no more".
Does the drive mount on the desktop that way?

If it does, be careful about bumping it while it's connected.
If it does NOT, don't use it, or use it with an adapter.

Sometimes things "just don't work".
I'd use something else, and not worry about it much at all.

They work fine even though the connector is slightly exposed. I would not worry about it if the drive works. If it doesn't work, they come with a warranty, so exercise it.
