Sanyo Xacti webcam

Hey guys, im trying to use my sanyo xacti vpc-th1 as a webcam (FW 800 to 400 adapter not here yet). I have it in camera mode and it shows up as sanyo digital camera but it outputs a black screen. Anyone got a solution?
