Hi!

I got a 3,1 MacPro and just updated to a Sapphire 7950 Mac edition. Even though the card is not officially supported on MacPro 3,1, it works without any problems with two displays connected.

However, I use 3 displays for work and that seems to be a problem. Officially, the card only supports two displays. When I connect three displays via DVI (one directly via DVI, the other two with a mini Display-Port adapter), one stays black.

However, when I connect one display via DVI, one via DVI-MiniDisplayPort and one via DisplayPort-MiniDisplayPort-Adapter, three displays work. But when I shut one monitor off, color flicker appears and the computer shuts down with a grey screen (Mac blue screen equivalent).

As long as I don't turn off the displays, everything is fine. Now my questions are:
- Is there a solution for this problem? How can I safely turn off my screen?
- What happens with the introduction of Maverick, has anyone experience with this card running on Maverick? Maybe it solves the problem, but I fear it could disable my third monitor.
- Is it harmful for the computer or the graphics card to shut down with color flickering / grey screen every once in a while?

Thanks!
