Is there a performance difference or other concerns, other than covering slot 3, when a graphics card like the Sapphire Pulse 580 8GB is plugged into slot 2 rather than slot 3?

I'm currently planning an upgrade from this slot config:
  1. Sapphire 7950 Mac Edition
  2. OWC Mercury Accelsior E2
  3. OWC Mercury Accelsior E2
  4. OWC Mercury Accelsior E2
To this:
  1. ADWITS Quad
    1. Samsung 970 EVO
    2. Samsung 970 EVO
    3. Samsung 970 EVO
    4. Samsung 970 EVO
  2. Sapphire Pulse 580 8GB
My reasoning is to keep the graphics card fan some space and not have to use a spacer between slot 1 and 2, when the card is plugged into slot 1.

Seem like a pretty no-brainer upgrade?

No, no difference whatsoever electrical or logical, between slots 2 and 1.
