I meant to write sata 3 in the title. My bad. Ha

I want my Mac to fly even more then it does already for my first year of film school.

I'm getting the 2015 retina pro anyhow. But why not.

My plan was to get two 512 gb 840 pros and raid them. But this is pointless if the disk drive by isn't sata 3. So how do I check if it is.

If it's not sata 3. I would just get a fast mobile thunderbolt drive. Probably the 4 or 2 tb my passport pro.

While the optical bay is SATA III it can't handle full throttle data. Works fine with the optical and spinning drives but will probably fail with a SSD.

Why not just put a 1 TB 840 Evo in the main drive spot? That gets you the space without the hassle of raid. Also a lot cheaper.
