I have a 533 Mhz PowerMac that I am using as a server. Currently, it has a Sonnet 2 x SATA card in it, and has 2 x 500 GB drives connected. I'd like to expand that to 4 x 500 GB drives. Two ways to do that:

  • Get a 4 x SATA card to replace my Sonnet. Drawback being that there aren't many for PCI and the reasonable ones don't seem as reliable. Here is the 4 x SATA I am considering: SIIG
  • Get another 2 x SATA card. Drawback being I'm not sure if there will be issues with PCI bandwidth or something. Here is the 2 x SATA that I currently have and would buy another of: Sonnet
My applications are just for storage and streaming of media, over gigabit ethernet. Thanks in advance for the advice.
