Hello,

I have a SATA hard drive in my PowerMac G5 that now I'd like to make external. I've been looking for an enclosure that can take a SATA hard drive and convert it to Firewire (400 or 800) or USB 2.0, but haven't had any luck. Does anyone know if something like this exists? Thanks.

Wiebetech makes the TrayDock which has a SATA tray that will do what you ask. :)

anything cheaper out there? for that price, I can buy a new drive.

I was looking for like 50 bucks or so, I know IDE enclosures cost around there

Use Google (or whatever your favorite web search engine is) and search for firewire+sata - this will get you a nice list, including ones at a lower cost.

Yup. Google is your friend: SATA-Firewire case for $70

Didn't mention this because haven't had the need for a fixed SATA-Firewire case, and the only one I've heard of was the Wiebetech one. I have a Granite Digital PATA-Firewire tray case, and have my eye on the Wiebetech TrayDock as a potential replacement - bump myself up to SATA-capable case/FW800 at the same time. (and I don't lose the use of my older PATA drives) :D
