NOTE: On the new Seagate SATA II 7200.9 drives, you have to worry about the SSC setting being enabled; this setting is not compatible with Macs SATA (and a number of PC motherboards too) Seagate ships the drives with this enabled -- which was a mistake. Some drives may have a jumper setting you can change, others have to be reset by software on a PC machine. More information at Seagate.com support under SATA FAQs.
 
I'm using 2 of those Seagate 7200.8's in my Powermac Dual 2Ghz G5. Working great :)

There are some issues with the 7200.9's and a few of the other newer SATA models from other companies. There's a lot of information about that on http://www.xlr8yourmac.com
 
Does anyone know if SATA II will fit into a Power mac G5 Dual 1.8? The exact product is...Western Digital 1TB Hard Drive, SATA II. Unfortunately I dont know which model it is but I could probably find out if needed.
