The HDD in my old Powerbook G4 recently died and I managed to get my hands on a complementary 64GB SSD from OCZ. As it turns out the drive is SATA II whereas the Powerbook undoubtedly is just a regular SATA machine. Is SATA II backwards compatible? In other words will the SSD work in my Powerbook? Thanks!

Actually the PowerBook is only IDE.

But in spirits of answering the question, SATA 2 is backwards compatible.

So I found out shortly afterwards... I ended up going out and getting a 160GB Seagate Momentus 3 5400 RPM PATA drive. Nothing special but I'm glad my powerbook is up and running again.

Replacing the drive was actually suprisingly easy!
