From another poster's images you can see that the J2i is just using four pins from Apple's 10-pin power supply for each of the drives. In other words, they've just turned the regular ugly 4-pin molex (5v, 12v, ground x2) into a more friendly shape.

Has anyone checked the pinout on this board yet? Once we know what the four pins are it should be super easy to power an HDD without the J2i by simply splicing a female 4-pin molex and a 4-pin power cable that has the right shapes.

I'm guessing we will see third party cables and cheap cages on the market in the coming months.
