Satechi today announced the launch of a new OntheGo 7-in-1 Multiport Adapter, which provides access to seven ports in a pocket-sized enclosure that's ideal to bring along when traveling.

The hub is similar in size to a hockey puck, and it includes a magnet so it can be attached to the back of a MagSafe iPhone or to a magnetic iPad case. Along with a USB-C port that offers up to 100W of passthrough charging, Satechi's adapter has the following ports:
  • HDMI 4K/60Hz
  • USB-A (5Gb/s)
  • USB-A (5Gb/s)
  • SD card reader (up to 104MB/s, up to 2TB)
  • microSD card reader (up to 104MB/s, up to 2TB)
  • Gigabit Ethernet
With the magnetic connection, the adapter can be connected to the back of an iPhone and used to access storage on an SD card or connected USB-A storage device. The adapter is compatible with iPhones, iPads, Macs, PCs, Android devices, and more.

For devices that don't have an included magnet, there is an adhesive ring to attach the adapter to the product, keeping it out of the way. Satechi includes a braided USB-C cable that wraps around the adapter.

Satechi's OntheGo 7-in-1 Multiport Adapter can be purchased from the Satechi website for $60.

10+ years ago this would have been great, nowadays, can't remember when I last had to use an adapter.
But hey, pretty functional and price isn't too bad either

It does have a USB-C PD Port (100W Input and up to 80W Output)
Kinda sucks that if you're charging you can't be using it for I/O. So in that sense it doesn't add anything as a USB-C hub. Can't even headphone jack and charge, which is a fair usecase. A second USB-C port would enable that via adapter.

If you're looking for external iPhone storage, you'd be better off with the Qwiizlab magnetic NVME SSD enclosure with USB PD charging passthrough. There are other manufacturers that sell something similar, although the Qwiizlab looks like one of the best.

"if only I could tether my iPhone via an Ethernet cable..."

- no one, ever

I have 5Gbps wired Internet. The phone gets dramatically better download speed over just a 2.5Gbps USB-C Ethernet adapter than it does with WiFi even sitting right next to the router.

Does it matter most of the time? No. Is it nice when sitting at my desk, or downloading one of the giant new iOS updates? Yes.

There are even cheap 5Gbps Ethernet adapters with USB PD passthrough so you can charge your device at the same time (without a dock). Very handy for an iPhone, iPad, or a MacBook…

Looks like it is a very good product. Satechi products are generally quite good. Price is ok too. Might buy one.
