Satechi Stand and Hub for Mini - I’ve been eyeing this for a while and just picked it up at a 30% discount. It’s not super fast but the use as a backup and for extra ports seems like a nice deal for m1 m2 mini. Thought I would post as I didn’t see the discounted price listed here. Hope this is helpful!

I bought this hub for storing my movies to stream. The internal SSD is perfect for this. I put a 4 TB in mine. Works like a charm. Plus the front ports are great instead of reaching behind the mini to connect something. Plenty fast for me. If you buy one, get the internal SSD option. With the new mini coming out with a redesigned case, could be awkward.

I have the non-SSD one for my Mac Mini and I absolutely love it. In hindsight, I should have gotten the SSD enclosure version but that's a future problem.
Update to this: I received the SSD enclosure version of this for Xmas and my wife also got me the Samsung 990 Pro 2TB NVMe M.2 SSD to go with it.

This upgrade alone makes it nearly impossible for me to EVER upgrade to the M4 Mac Mini because I now have everything I could ask for in a powerhouse computer:

  • Fast enough CPU and GPU to do Lightroom and FCPX projects
  • Enough RAM to keep up with intense tasks
  • Type C ports for days thanks to the Belkin 4 port hub
  • The Satechi hub, when paired with the Samsung M.2 SSD, gives me all of the "internal" storage I could ever hope for plus the additional ports that the Satechi provides on it's own.

I just upgraded the original base to the NVME version using the same sale. With my slow M2 SATA stick I only get 300MBps write and 420MBps read. This is not faster than the original model, but I got the upgrade for a future upgrade M2 stick.
It's for Music media, so this is full adequate.
Using an Acasis TB3/4 USB4 SSD case, I get almost 2200MBps write and 2600MBps read with my Samsung EVE Pro 4TB. The TBU 405 Air is currently on sale at Amazon for $55.
ACASIS 40Gbps M.2 NVMe SSD Enclosure
Note that this is a TB device. It does not work on a USBC-C only port.

My M1 mini has the Satechi hub. Put a 4TB Samsung M2 pro in it. Also have an external with a Samsung 4TB SSD for backing up everything. Won’t be upgrading for a little while.
