We don't have DSL availability here where we live so I'm on dial up and getting pretty fed up with it.
My other option is satellite. We have a local satellite company and I talked with them but I'm a bit confused. They said the satellite would be hooked up with one computer (the desktop) and if I wanted to use my laptop, I'd have to get a router. But they had no info for me on that.
Second, I asked about traveling with my laptop and not having wireless access where I was staying. That has happened a few times and I just used my dial up at the condo and I could at least pick up my email.
They said that I wouldn't be able to do anything unless I was able to get onto a wireless connection IE: a hotel etc...
So, I'm not exactly thrilled with any of that - doesn't sound very user friendly or rather, easy to get access away from home.
Any other input on satellite??

I'm sure you've never heard of them -- Behive. They are a local company.
