Save $140 on the newest 2011 MacBook Pro i7 2.2 quad - I just did!

I just left my local Apple retail store (NorthPoint Mall - Alpharetta, GA) they price matched MacConnection's $ of $2059.99 saving me $140 and gave me a HP printer ($99 with $99 rebate that they submit on the spot).

If anyone is wanting their newest gotta have it MBP and wants to save a few bucks then I hope this helps!

Now it's time to pop in my 256 ssd and order an 8GB ram kit from OWC ($114 currently)

Yeah I tried and tried to no avail to get them to discount it an additional 7% (local tax rate) since the online retailer doesn't charge sales tax. They must have told me no 5 times before I stopped asking.

They will only match authorized Apple resellers though ... MacMall & MacConnection are included. Macconnection happened to be cheaper than Macmall by $100.

Macconnection currently have the Macbook pro 13 baseline at $1150. How should I go with this? My student discount would be $50 cheaper on apple store. Should I ask for them to price match Macconnection AND then give me the student discount which means the price would be $1050? Any chance this happens? If they won't, then I will refuse to purchase from them then. Also I forgot to mention the free printer rebate. If I resell it, that would be $50 more. So after the $110 tax because I am in California, the total price of my purchase after all the trouble would be $1100... which is just $100 off lol!

There is no MacConnection near me either and I'm not sure if they have any brick and mortar stores but they are an authorized Mac reseller so they will price match in store.

If you can wait a few days then ordering from them is the way to go as of this post ... No sales tax is a big deal on a $1000+ product. In my case I could have saved another $145 or so ... I had an Apple gift card that covered most of my purchase and I wanted in now!

And the free printer after rebate was kinda cool bonus.

Uh, yeah, then they won't sell it to you. That's already the cheapest MBP they have. I doubt they would go lower.

I was very excited to save on mine 3 days after launch. I kind of expected them to refuse a discount to me so when they did I was very happy.

i just bought my mbp online with the EDU and saved 8% (200$), and got a free printer (100$ printer, and 100$ rebate = free)

best part is, im not at college or university and they never asked for proof./

That printer does not cost $100 when you resell it. You would be lucky to fetch 50% of that price.
