SAVE AS... Have to search! POOF!

20 Years with Apple, and I can't figure this out.
If I have a picture, lets say, or any file, and I work with it in Photoshop (for instance) and I go to SAVE AS... The app will save the file to the desktop (or wherever). But it doesn't show up until I do a FIND.. from the finder. In the search window I'll click on the file and "POOF", it appears. ANY idea what this is all about? It's REALLY annoying.

I've done all the "usual" things... permissions, yada yada.
Tiger, latest update. G5 Tower 4GB RAM 250X2 HD 256Video card.

Excellent work. That makes perfect sense.

Dunno why, but I thought that'd been mentioned in the other thread.
