I have iWork '09. College have iWork '06. I need my work in iWork '06 format and I see no way of doing that in '09. I'm not bothered about data loss.
 
Unfortunately, the option to save as a version earlier than iWork '08 was dropped in iWork '09. It's one reason I keep iWork '08 on my Mac.

Your easiest option is to save as Word if the file needs editing or export as PDF if it doesn't. It might be worth seeing if you can get a copy of iWork '08 for an inexpensive price to use as a converter.
 
save as rtf? most all word processors can read rtf.

its only really keynote that I need it compatible with, I rarely use the rest, for my mac came with Office 08. Converting to ppt has too much data loss to be true. even text goes missing. (when being saved in 09 and opened in 06 or vice versa. using the same version has no issue.)

It looks like it's time to look for a cheap version of 08.
