Save images in apps not safari?

When in apps like ireddit or twitter or anything really that works like a browser on the iPhone in order to save images I have to open the page in safari first. Is this normal? When in safari I can hold on the image and the menu Pops up to save the image or email ect. but only in safari and not within native apps. Is there way to enable image saving in other apps or is there something wrong with my phone? I thought maybe because I'm jailbroken something might be conflicting. I'm on iPhone 4 with iOS 4.2.1

That's just the way it is. You can't even copy text in the Facebook app, it drives me spare sometimes.

Seems like an obvious feature to have... Maybe someone could develop a cydia tweak to do it.
