There was this article on how to do this: http://www.leefindlow.com/articles/iwork-09-pages-doc-support/

But with Mountain Lion, I can't get it to work. I edit the .plist and I get the same problem: pressing Cmd + S still brings up the Save As dialogue. I changed the .plist to "Editor" and it stays saved as Editor when I re-open the plist, but I can't figure out what to do to make this work. Any ideas?

Why would anyone want to do this? The reason Pages requires an export is so the user knows that the features of the apps are not the same. Even if this worked, it doesn't make Pages any more "compatible" with Word.
