I have a very specific requirement, so hear me out. Thanks for the patience.

So I regularly receive SMS from different entities, and they appear as below

Now, till I few years ago, I beautified these messages by saving the text string “AX-INDBNK” as an email address in contacts and messages was able to match it to the contact.

However, sometime last year, this broke and doesn’t work anymore.

Now these messages appear all ugly again and this bothers me.

Does anyone know of a way to match these text senders to a contact that still works?

Below is an example of how it looked when it did work

Adding their numbers to the corresponding existing contact should work. I am assuming your bank, for example, uses a consistent number to send you messages? It worked for my banks, my government and phone carriers.

No, these are not numbers. The sender appears as that text, in the above example “AX-INDBNK”

All of mine do come from a number…. But this is how I add them to a Contact. Go into the Thread, up at the top you should see “AX-INDBNK >”

Touch that “AX-INDBNK >” and then there should be an “Info” button

Touch “Info” and then “Add to Contact”

Select your existing contact, then “Update”

If that doesn’t fix it, then…. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Thank you for your response. Unfortunately, doesn’t work. After going into Info, the alphanumerical string disappears completely
