Save/Open Sidebar glitch in El Capitan

The sidebar in save/open dialogs does not contain the same elements as in a normal Finder window. All I get is the Devices and Shared categories. If I want to save to the desktop, for example, I have to drill down from Macintosh HD. Anyone else having this problem?
