Save/restore text/sms messages and setup as new iPhone

I got my iPhone 4 last week and I originally restored from a backup made from my 3G (with iOS 4 installed). I'd really like to start fresh though, but I'd like to maintain my SMS history if at all possible. I've seen a couple methods of doing this with a jailbroken phone, but would like to avoid that (I've done it before and am not opposed to it -- I just don't want to if I don't have to).

Anyone have any favorite methods of doing this?
