Save Text messages???

Is there a way to back up the text messages? I lost all my text messages as I had to revert to a backup during my iOS4 upgrade yesterday. It was a long tedious process. Fortunately, the backup worked, but I lost all my text messages.

Ugh...

So for future's sake - is there a way to back them up?

Yup. Sync with iTunes.

That's what I did. I had issues installing iOS4 and had to load a backup of my iPhone. Once I did that, all text messages were gone. Everything else was fine, except for text messages.

Yep. Me too. All texts gone.
I've had a nightmare with this update. It's taken me the best part of a whole day!

Perhaps I should have known my 3G wouldn't have coped with this.

This is why I always backup my phone once before any major updates. I then take the fresh backup folder and copy it elsewhere just in case a newer backup overwrites it.

There are some programs out there that will back up your text messages into text files on your PC or Mac. In the past I have used one called "Phone view."

You can always take a screen shot of the "juicier" parts of the text as well. Awesome for blackmail.
