Which one should I get? Please don't say both I do not need both.

I rely on my ipad. The iPad experience is so much more of a ...... complete..fuller... experience to me. I cant put my finger on the word, but iPhone apps do not compare or do as much as the iPad apps. I agree with @Royksöpp's statement above. But, I am never without my iPad.

This is like asking us whether you should have fish or chicken for dinner. We can't offer meaningful advices when you don't define your intentions and needs. You may as well flip a coin.

You could get both Samsung equivalent devices and the outlay would be about the same as a single over priced apple device.

Three have better deals than O2 but they don't have good coverage where I live. In fact O2 are the only carrier that has coverage in my apartment building.
Really? Three here are great for coverage.

I left Vodafone as they were shocking for coverage

ipad air 2. better performance, better display, and overall better app experience.

Besides, an iPad cost less than an iPhone.

It depends if you use the phone options a lot (phone calls, text messages etc) if your cell phone is your only phone and you have a dumb phone, I would recommend the 6 plus miles times before an iPad. Way more convinient, with you anytime, anywhere, easy to text your friends etc. It feels more like an all in one device to me and a better everyday device for your social, media and internet needs.

If you just use your cell phone for contacting your wife or kids and just use it like a pre paid phone, go with the ipad easily.
