I accidentally my whole location.
I'm trying to get the white edges in my avatar transparent and I just remembered that Photoshop 5 was included on my iBook when I bought it (have to run it in Classic) and I cannot figure out how to save the transparency for anything! (as a PNG)

This is probably something very simple and I'm missing the obvious but any help would be much appreciated.

Thanx,

-V

in 6 i use the magic wand to cut out what i want, copy it to the clipboard, then go to new, select a transparent background, and it should resize that new document to whats on your clipboard. Then just paste. Probley not much help, since i am using photoshop 6, but worth a shot.

Ha, that's how I ended up getting the transparent background in the first place, but when I go to save it, it flattens the image so its white again.

Any reason why a GIF won't work?

The option is blanked out for some reason, maybe it requires some sort of plugin or something, I don't know, plus a PNG is of better quality and I have a lot of room to give in 20k...

It just says PNG, the only option that I can save any other format besides Photoshop (in Save and Save as, all the other options are blanked out) is Save a Copy and even then there are a lot of options blanked out.

Werd.

Have you tried booting into 9 and seeing what options you have? Maybe Classic is doing something weird.

Other than that, I'd say it sounds like an incomplete installation.

Can't help you with the issue, sorry, but I had to ask what you've got biting you in the crotch....;)

and why are you using jello's tar?

I'm not using jello's tar, you must have higher security clearence in the PPP to know the true story...

Anyhoo, I'll boot into OS9 and see what I can do from there.

Okay, botting into 9 didn't work, I still got the same options (rather lack thereof) and it still wanted to flatten the image so it came out with a white background like before.

<sigh>

Anybody want to transparenfy this for me if I can't figure this out myself?

I'll give you a virtual cookie.

Ha, werd Rower, I took that image and figured out how to export it at a transparent PNG (finally!) and smoothed it up a bit.

Here's your cookie:

Oh my....now that's a cookie! :p
