Saving a voicemail message to your computer ?

I was wondering if it's possible to save/transfer a voicemail message (visual voicemail) to your computer. Are there any programs/apps that do this?

I did some more research and found this article that explains one way to do it,

can anyone confirm this? I'd like to know before I go out and purchase an audio extension cable. Thanks
