Saving App Store Games to Ext. HD

I am planning on purchasing a few games from the App Store here and would like to run them from my ext. HD and not have them take up space on my MBP's HD.

1. Do I simply drag and drop the app from the local HD to the Ext. HD or are there other files associated with it that must also be brought over?

2. If something were to go wrong, would the app store still show that I purchased the app and allow me to re-download it?

1. yes, you can just copy the .app to a different folder. I'm not sure how to make it show up in launchpad however.

2. yes, it will keep a record of your downloads. Your purchases are linked to your Apple id.
