Hey everyone,

I'm having an issue with Microsoft Word 2011 Beta 6. No matter what I save, it out puts this same pink image file, that appears to repackaged as a open xml word document. A little digging with this file tells me that it contains active code, and it's origins are from the save and savex command line tools (now part of 2011 to support vb macros)

Is anyone else having this issue? Does anyone know of a possible solution? I really need your help here. I'm being accused of intentionally corrupting files at my high school....

Thanks in advance...

Okay, so i'm looking at this file, and the active code looks like it does originate form save and savex. I'm downloading B6 right now, to dissect CMTs.

Okay I'm having a similar thing going on.
it creates freaky picture/document hybrids that no one seems to be able to open. Mine too is a pinkish-orangish square.

I read on a softpedia thread that it has to do with a conflict with Perian command line tools with the same name.

I don't see how this can be true.

Do any of you have Perian installed?

Alas, I can't save word documents with or without open xml. I doubt Perian is the problem. But I do have it installed, and I will remove it to see if that helps.

as a temporary solution, you could always just save your files in rtf.

jbl5912, can you upload a file as well?

I want to see you you guys are having the same bug.

I just finished installing Beta6, no problems here...

So I managed to force the issue to happen by running Word from automator. But otherwise, the problem doesn't happen.

Strange that you guys are getting it all the time.
From about an hour of forum surfing, it looks like only a few of you have this problem constantly. Several people have it only once, and several more have it as a hit or miss thing.

Thanks for all your help!

Confirmed: Perian is NOT the problem.

I will continue with my solution of using Pages '09, and exporting to PDF. That works just fine for homework (I hate RTF).

You can try using AppZapper to remove the contents of Application Support (another bug with 2011B6 prevents the normal uninstaller from doing so), and then using the "Rebuild Word" tool. That should re-install all Office '11 CTLs (thought you may not want that, if you have modified them/created your own macros as part of the standard template)

Used a trial of AppZapper... and rebuilt.

didn't work.

Ima just use AppZapper again, but this time remove all of 2011 and re-install the whole suite later...
