Hey Everyone,
I have been using Mac OS X Leopard for about 3 months now and I have a question. When I save files from Firefox, when I name the file, I have to make sure the .jpg is in the file name, if I do not have it there the file is just listed as a file, even though at the bottom of the save window it says it is saving as a Jpeg file. Is this normal? I then have to go to the file and put the extension .jpg at the end and it opens correctly, yet if I then delete the extension, the file now remembers that it is a .jpg.

The reason I ask this, is that all my movies and all my pictures have the "name".jpg. I was wondering if there was a way to hide these extensions. *I have 'show all extensions' unchecked in finder, it still does not hide these because they appear to be part of the file name. So, simply, is there a way to remove all the .jpg, .avi, .mpg in my files names?

Also, for viewing pictures in my folders, I don't like that with preview you have to Command+a to select them all and then view them so I can easily go through the pictures in the folder. Is there an application like Windows Picture and Fax Viewer in which you can just open a picture and flick through the pictures that are in that folder? I am currently using Xee but I don't like how it renders my photo icons sometimes, at times it just shows a Xee icon.

Thanks for any help.
