I need to do a clean install of Mac OS on my laptop and I'm currently working on some videos in final cut pro. I will not be restoring from a back-up, it's going to be a clean install. Is there a way to save the work I'm doing in final cut? This way I can continue where I left off without having to re-edit the entire video? Thanks in advance.

Yes, just find the library file of the work you want to save and transfer that to an external drive and it'll be backed up.

If you don't know where it's stored, right click the library in FCPX and select, "Reveal in Finder".

I've decided to leave my files in the original location, so they aren't in the Library. It only shows shortcuts to them. I think this is my issue. Once I remove the original files they won't appear in Final Cut anymore.

Then also backup your original files and relink them once you reinstall fcpx.
