Saving Images To CD-RW

I do photography as a hobby and save my original images to a CD-RW for later use. Regardless how many images i have on my CD's, when I try to save images from my mac to the CD is says there isn't enough room. i am doing something wrong in regards to using the mac to perform this function. Thanks for any help.
