saving .mp3 file as - but saves to disk as .html file

i just got a mac for the first time, so excuse me if this is a dumb question, but i'm trying to "download linked file" for a couple linked .mp3 files (that play in the browser window when clicked normally). i "download linked file" and it appears as an .mp3 file in the downloads window, but then saves as an .html file which opens as a link to the page that originally contained the .mp3s...

is this a problem with my computer or with the website?
