Hi, i bought a macbook last week and i am in the process of changing my files over from Windows to the Mac

I have several text files on my windows system. I understand that these will open on the mac, however i would like to save them to the most suited file type for the mac

Can someone suggest if i should leave them as .txt or save them as another text file format, thanks in advance

.txt is fine and completely compatible with Windows or Mac OS X. If you want to safe formatting, .rtf is compatible with both, as well. Here are a few of the choices that TextEdit (similar to Windows Notepad or WordPad) offers when saving.

They are .txt files now...

Does the text editor on the mac allow you to save newly created text files as .txt

Ok cool, sorry i did not see that option in your attachment
