Saving Video to External hard drive

Hey guys, I'm a new Macbook user and I'm having problems with using an external hard drive. I'm trying to download a file but when I right click "download file as" it saves an html file instead of the video or vlog that I'm trying to save. I can download it simply by using the "download file" click, but it won't let me change the name of the file and I like to add dates and titles to the vlogs. How do i fix this?

I don't think I fully understand your problem... You have a Macbook and an external drive, are you trying to copy a file from your computer to your external drive?
