I am pre-ordering for home delivery and am thinking to get 2 white iPhone 4's. My girlfriend definitely wants white and I am leaning towards white. If I dont like it can I return it to get black for free or for any cost?

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_1_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile/7E18 Safari/528.16)

You'll have to pay the restocking fee probably.

If you are unsure, just go to the store on the morning, and make sure you aren't the first in line;)

Assuming you can't do that though, so yes, probably have to pay a restocking fee, just only open hers, will make it easier.

I tried this with my 3GS and I wasn't allowed. I was told if there is nothing wrong with it, then I couldn't exchange it.
Of course it was after Apple's 14 day return policy. So during that period I don't see why you couldn't return it, and then buy the black one.

Returns are subject to Apple's Terms & Conditions. You have up to 14 calendar days from the time you receive your item(s) to initiate a return. A 10% restocking fee will be assessed for opened items. Shipping fees are not refundable.

why does it have to be so hard to make a decision in your life over your phone color haha

As long as it's not open you can exchange it all day long w/ no fee. Once you open it it's cheaper to just slap a skin on it.

My advice: get the black. When I see a guy using a white phone I wonder if he stole it from his sister or daughter (depending on the guys age).

1) there's therapy for that
2) get the black so there is no confusing the phones
3) if you plan on getting a case/cover, does it matter?

Get black and then get a case. You'll not even notice the color once you put it in a case.

simple

- order both white phones
- when they arrive only open one box (your girlfriends)
- check it out and if you like it open your box and enjoy your white phone
- if you dont like it then leave the box sealed and take it to the apple store
- return it or exchange for the black with no restocking fee.
