iPod touch Scamble app not loading when wi-fi modem is off

Hi fellow ipodians,

I am having an interesting issue concerning one of the apps running on my ipod touch. The game Scramble allows users to play solo (offline) or online. The problem is, if the game detects a wi-fi connection it will try to connect to it. If the modem is off and there is no internet connection, the game hangs and doesn't start. Has anyone else experienced this problem?
