Scan for image never works with my DVD image

In the past I try to make sure I have an SD card with a bootable Snow Leopard image on it. I know I can manually install SL to the SD card but why is that the when you make an image scan for restore never seems to work.

Has anybody created a bootable SD card by using "Restore' in Disk utility from the DVD image?
